PRAGUE: Julius Ševčík’s Czech/Slovak high budget period drama coproduction The Glass Room started shooting in the famous Tugendhat villa in Brno. This English-language film will be shot in several European countries with international stars such as Dutch Carice van Houten (Game of Thrones) and Danish Claes Bang (The Square). The cast includes Czech actors Karel Roden and Karel Dobrý.

PRAGUE: The Czech film Fund distributed 354,261EUR / 9 m CZK for the development of 14 feature film projects. New projects by Martin Šulík, Olmo Omerzu and Juraj Herz are among the winners.

PRAGUE: Czech production company Marlene Film leads the Czech/Irish/Slovak/German co-production project titled Charlatan / Šarlatán, to be directed by Agnieszka Holland.

PRAGUE: The shooting on Kasper Torsting’s period drama In War and Love / I Krig & Kærlighed (working title) took place on Czech locations from 4 to 11 February 2018. The crew will now move to Germany and Denmark.

PRAGUE: The Czech satirical film President Blanik / Prezident Blaník directed by Marek Najbrt topped the weekend admissions chart with 63,630 admissions and 357,718 EUR / almost 9 m CZK gross. The film released by Falcon on 1 February 2018 was shot during the presidential campaign in the Czech Republic and many scenes are from real presidential debates.

PRAGUE: Filthy / Špína directed by Tereza Nvotová was awarded Best Film and the Innogy Award for the Discovery of the Year at the Czech Critics´Awards 2017, while Little Crusader directed by Václav Kadrnka was awarded for Best Director. The ceremony took place on 27 January 2018.

PRAGUE: The new historical drama Britannia, currently available on Sky Atlantic and Amazon, was largely filmed in and around Prague, using the Czech Republic as a stand-in for Britain of the 1st Century A.D. The series received one the highest film incentives in the Czech Republic, 6.2 m EUR / 167.3 m CZK.
