Short films from Georgia, Bulgaria, Finland, Poland, Croatia and Hungary are competing for the European Short Film Award 2014. The EFA awards ceremony will be held in Riga on 13 December.

WARSAW: The 30th Warsaw Film Festival will screen 200 features and short films from 59 countries between 10 and 19 October 2014. The films are divided into five competitive and five non-competitive sections. More than 150 filmmakers will present their works in person.

On the shore of the Peruća lake the shooting of the fiction film The High Sun, directed by Dalibor Matanić, began. The shooting will take place in October and November on locations near Knin – Peruća lake, Ervenik, Đevrske, Golubić and Kistanje.

BRATISLAVA: The first edition of Be2Can (6-15 October 2014) is showing the best of the best from Berlin, Venice and Cannes. Be2Can takes place in cinemas, on Video-On-Demand at O2 Czech Republic Videotheque and on the Film Europe Channel on TV.

SIBIU: The XXI edition of ASTRA Film Festival (6-12 October) will screen 120 documentaries from 40 countries in a programme including four competitive sections.

Starting with Monday, the 6th of October 2014, Sibiu becomes the heart of documentary film, at the most important festival of the genre in Romania and Central-East Europe - Astra Film Festival.
