PRAGUE: Czech production designer and art director Karel Cerny, who won an Oscar in 1985 for Amadeus, died 5 September 2014 at age 92.

FNE together with FIPRESCI invited FIPRESCI critics in Venice to rate the feature films in the official programme of 71st Venice Film Festival (2014) giving the films 1,2,3,4 or 5 stars - 5 is the best and 1 is the worst. The ratings give an overview of the critics’ opinions from a large number of countries and provide insights to what critics in many different countries think about the programme.

On 13 - 16 October 2014 will be the 30th anniversary edition of the international fair and conference MIPCOM directed at producers, broadcasters, distributors and sales agents and companies in the area of digital media. MIPCOM is the most important annual meeting of the audiovisual sector -   the persons responsible for the purchase and sale of feature films, TV series, formats, documentaries and animation. Every year, the fair brings together more than 13,500 participants from over 100 countries, including about 4,600 buyers and 2,100 exhibitors.

Venice, 1 September – At the Venice Film Market, RE-ACT was presented today (Regional Audiovisual Cooperation and Training), an initiative aiming to stimulate the development and co-funding of joint feature-length co-productions and film education and networking between Slovenia, Croatia and the Italian region of Friuli Venezia Giulia.
