The following grants were announced on 5 July 2017.

KARLOVY VARY: Karlovy Vary IFF together with MIDPOINT, Trieste FF and When East Meets West launched a training and development programme for emerging talents from Central and Eastern Europe. The programme will scout the most talented filmmakers and producers of the future.

ZAGREB: Shooting of the BBC series McMafia directed by James Watkins and starring James Norton wrapped in Opatija last week. The series was shot in various locations first during the winter of 2016, when most of the scenes were filmed in Zagreb, while the second part of filming took place from May 2017, when the cast and crew moved down to the coast. The local spending of international projects benefitting of the incentives programme is expected to be more than 13.5 EUR / 100 m HRK in 2017.

The East-West co-production market connecting cottbus (coco) will take place during the FilmFestival Cottbus on November 9 and 10 and is looking for the most exciting feature film projects. Producers can apply with a project for coco Pitch and, for the first time, for coco Work in Progress up until July 28, 2017.

The opening ceremony of Buzău International Film Festival BUZZ CEE will take place today at 19:30, at the George Ciprian Theater Hall in Buzău.

SOFIA: Glory / Slava directed by Kristina Grozeva and Petar Valchanov was sold in more than 30 territories including Canada, United States and United Kingdom.

At the 52nd Karlovy Vary International Film Festival the European Film Academy (EFA) has launched at a campaign to invite young filmmakers to become voting members of the EFA. „We want to encourage our young colleagues to actively take part in our Academy community and activities. We need their inspiration and expertise to bring the Academy into the next decade,“ says Agnieszka Holland, Chairwoman of the EFA Board. „The future is theirs and they are the future – only together will we be able to protect and develop our art and industry which will be undergoing fundamental changes in the years to come.“

WARSAW: Nominations for the 10th edition of Polish Film Institute (PISF) awards was announced on 3 July 2017. The gala will take place on 19 September 2017, during the 42nd Gdynia Film Festival.

OLSZTYN: Warmia and Mazury Regional Film Fund has chosen to support four new projects with a total of 118,017 EUR / 500,000 PLN. The projects will promote the region and its film professionals.
