PRAGUE: The Prague and Bratislava based powerhouse Film Europe Media Company will launch its Film Europe Channel in Belgium and the Netherlands on 20 June 2017, making it the first film TV channel established in CEE to launch its own distribution network in Western Europe.

The second workshop of the EAVE Producers Workshop programme 2017 will take place in Lodz, Poland, during June 19–26. The workshop, co-financed by the Polish Film Institute and the City of Lodz and co-organized by KIPA – Polish Audiovisual Producers Chamber of Commerce and EC1 Lodz / Lodz Film Commission, will bring together 50 participants from 40 countries.

Six new Czech documentaries are in production and four are in post-production.

Baltic View has started a new initiative showing films from the Baltic countries. The first official CINEMA EVENT with a Lithuanian documentary film  MASTER AND TATYANA took place in London on the 14th of June at CINÉ LUMIÈRE - the French Institute. The event was a success - it was nearly sold out! Considering it was one of the hottest days of the year in London

WARSAW: ScripTeast, the screenwriting training programme, is extending its reach into the field of dramatic series projects with a launch at the Odessa IFF in July 2017.

ZAGREB: Ten years after the original Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again, the prequel/sequel to the popular musical comedy Mamma Mia! by Phyllida Lloyd will begin filming on a remote island of Croatia this autumn.

ZAGREB: CEE animation fared well at the 27th Animafest Zagreb, which ran 5-10 June 2017, with the Grand Prix going to the Slovenian short film Nighthawk by Spela Cadez.
