COTTBUS: House of Others, a debut film by Georgian director Rusudan Glurjidze, will screen in the main competition of the Cottbus Film Festival, which opens on 8 November 2016. The film is a Georgian/Russian/Spanish/Croatian coproduction.

Jihlava IDFF's East Silver Market reveals its most-viewed films.

TALLINN: Industry@Tallinn & Baltic Event have announced the 12 films from the Baltic region in production or postproduction to be presented in the Works in Progress programme.

The following grants were announced by the Croatian Audiovisual Centre on 28 October 2016.

JIHLAVA: Anuna Bukia, one of a new generation of female Georgian documentary filmmakers, premiered her debut film I Swam Enguri at the East Silver Market of the Jihlava IDFF, which concluded on 30 October 2016. 

JIHLAVA: Sales agents from across Europe gathering at Jihlava IDFF to scout new documentary films and projects said they are shifting their strategy for acquiring and selling docs. 

PRAGUE: The National Gallery in Prague has teamed up with a pilot festival of films shot in the portrait format for smartphone screens, Vertifilms, to be held on 3 November 2016.

JIHLAVA: The prizes at the closing ceremony spanned Europe, but the biggest prize of the 20th anniversary of the Jihlava International Documentary Film Festival should go to the festival itself. Under the direction and forward-thinking quest of founder Marek Hovorka, the festival has been quietly shattering expectations, coalescing this year in a festival that not only looked back on its first 20 years, but used the occasion to look ahead to the next 20 years.

VALLETTA: The Malta Film Commission has invited five companies to present proposals to renovate and operate the film studios in Kalkara.

ZAGREB: Thirteen films will screen in the competition of the 14th Zagreb Film Festival, 12 – 20 November 2016.
