PLZEN: The Way Out, which marked Petr Václav’s return to directing after an absence of 13 years, took the main award at the 28th Finale Plzen Film Festival which wrapped on 2 May 2015. The film also won seven awards at the Czech Lions in late February, including the prize for best film.

KRAKOW: Roman Polański returned to Poland to pick up an award at the PKO Off Camera Festival in Krakow, his home town.

The Karlovy Vary festival is famous for its inimitable atmosphere, its openness to film lovers and its relaxed environment in which film stars and regular viewers can meet in one room. It is for these reasons that the opening of the 50th KVIFF has been conceived as a celebration of film and of the film fans.

TALLINN: The fourth edition of Baltic Bridge East by West (B'EST) is calling for 12 participants to take part in the event. Seven of the selected projects will be from the European Union and three from the CIS countries - Georgia and Ukraine.

PLZEN: Aurel Klimt's first feature Laika, an animated Czech sci-fi musical that's been in the making for the past five years, is due to be released in 2017.

WIESBADEN: goEast, the international film festival held in Germany, which focuses on Eastern European films, has announced its award winners. The festival ran from 22 to 28 April 2015. The four awards of the Competition for Fiction Features and Documentaries at the 15th edition of goEast have been presented to films from Serbia, Croatia, the Slovak Republic and the Czech Republic.
