VILNIUS: The sixth Meeting Point – Vilnius conference has begun. One of the biggest film industry events in the Baltic region, it invites participants to discuss current topics in the audiovisual field. The three-day conference will focus on cinema as a business.

The winner of the International Film Festival Prague - Febiofest drama is Life in a Fishbowl, which won twelve nominations, including Best Film, for the annual prizes of the Icelandic Film Academy The director of the winning film, Baldvin Zophoníasson, has arrived from his native Iceland to attend Febiofest’s Closing Ceremony. The Febiofest Grand Prix includes a check in the amount of € 5,000, which will be presented by Chairwoman of the Jury, actress Vlasta Chramostová.

BRATISLAVA: Pictures of the Old World (1972) directed by Dušan Hanák is to appear on DVD in the United Kingdom. This is the third film to be released by the Second Run DVD company in a series of Slovak films appearing on DVD for English-speaking audiences. Second Run specialises in re-releasing art movies of various languages and cultures from around the world.

Hot Docs Canadian International Documentary Festival, North America's largest documentary event, will screen documentaries supported by the Institute of Documentary Film from 23 April to 3 May 2015 in Toronto.

PRAGUE: Slovak-born producer and businessman Peter Kovarčík died as a result of an accident on 23 March 2015 at the age of 61.

BUCHAREST: Six debut features and second films will compete for the trophy of the 11th edition of Bucharest International Film Festival from 20 to 26 April 2015.

The Lithuanian Film Centre (LFC) granted €32,700 of state funding for the pre-production of two films. This concludes the first competition for state funding of 2015.

The 10th edition of A l’Est, du Nouveau Film Festival will screen more than 30 films from New Europe in Normandy, France from 17 to 24 April 2015.
