The Malta Film Foundation announced it is accepting applications for the 5th Malta Short Film Festival taking place between July and September 2013.

 

The first edition of L'immagine e la parola, the Festival del film Locarno’s spin-off event that is part of Primavera Locarnese, will take place 24-27 March 2013. The event, with Carlo Chatrian as Artistic Director, focuses on the relationships between the moving image and the written word. L’immagine e la parola comprises screenings, encounters, workshops and discussions, and is composed of both events for the general audience and an educational program for schools and higher education institutions.

From 6 to 8 March, Lyon will become the European capital of animation film: more than 700 animated feature film producers, investors, distributors, sales agents and video game companies from all of Europe and beyond will attend the 15th Cartoon Movie to create partnerships and raise financing, thus allowing many productions to be completed. The annual pitching event will showcase in sneak preview 56 animated projects and films at various stages of development.

The 15th annual One World International Human Rights Documentary Film Festival will draw attention to the recent dangerous tendencies in the Czech society. The festival’s provocative Don’t Be Scared of Eggality! is to opena discussion about growing intolerance, racism and discrimination.  

NATIONAL COMPETITION AWARDS WILL BE SELECTED BY JURY CHAIRED BY TAYFUN PİRSELİMOĞLU

Distinguished writer-director Tayfun Pirselimoğlu will serve as the jury president of the National Golden Tulip Competition in the 32nd Istanbul Film Festival, to be organised between 30 March and 14 April by the Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts, sponsored by Akbank.

“Lithuanian short films must be introduced to the international film industry.” This is the guiding principle of the short film agency “Lithuanian Shorts” that will attend the largest short film festival in Europe, Clermont-Ferrand. During the festival, which is scheduled to take place from February 1-9, Lithuania will be the first of the Baltic countries to introduce the work of its outstanding short filmmakers to an international audience.

IDFA, CPH:DOX, DOK Leipzig, MoMA´s Documentary Fortnight, and even SUNDANCE Festival: those are the festivals where the participating films of the 2012 edition of DOK.Incubator started their road to success. After six months of hard work at editing and distribution, all eight participant projects have gained international recognition. In addition, five of them are discussing or have already signed contracts with key European sales agents.
