Montenegro and Russia have been accepted as the newest member countries of European Film Promotion (EFP). At the last meeting in Hamburg (Germany), the EFP members decided to welcome the Ministry of Culture of Montenegro and the Russian Cinema Fund, supported by the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation into the pan-European network. As of 2013, EFP will be uniting 35 promotion organisations from 36 countries to promote and market films and talent from across Europe under one banner.

The Festival del film Locarno and the City of Milan, as part of a strong desire for a collaboration, announce their intention to establish the Pardo alla Migliore Opera Prima “Città di Milano” (Award for the Best First Film).

The latest film by Polish helmer Jacek Borcuch will have its European premiere at the 2013 IFF Rotterdam (January 23rd – February 3rd ) in Spectrum section which screens strong and innovative work by experienced film makers and artists who provide an essential contribution to international film culture.

Cristian Mungiu's Beyond the Hills was selected to represent Romania at next year's Academy Awards which will take place on February 24th. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences will announce the five nominees for best foreign film on January 15th.

The Child's Pose (by Călin Peter Netzer) was selected in the official competition of the Berlin Film Festival, which will take place from 7 to 17 February 2013.

The actress was selected in the program which, along the years, was the career launch pad for internationally famed actors such as Rachel Weisz, Daniel Craig, Carey Mulligan, Mélanie Laurent

Best European Short Film 2012 at the European Film Awards.

Superman, Spiderman or Batman, by Tudor Giurgiu, received the Best European Short Film award during the 25th European Film Awards, held on December 1st, in Malta.

The closing night of Making Waves: New Romanian Cinema on December 5th was dedicated to the screening of the most talked about Romanian movie of the year, Beyond the Hills, with lead actresses Cristina Flutur and Cosmina Stratan in attendance. The Film Society of Lincoln Center's Walter Reade Theater proved to be too small a venue for the unprecedented number of fans of Romanian cinema who hoped extra tickets would be available. They will have to wait for the American release in March 2013.

Entries for the feature film competition of the 9th edition of Bucharest International Film Festival, which will take place between the 15th and the 21stof April 2013, are now open. Bucharest IFF is the first and only feature film competition organized in Romania's capital city, Bucharest.

The second edition of 3D Film Mart took place on 4 & 5 December 2012 in Liège (Belgium) and was a success. More than 100 people attended the Market, nearly double the numbers anticipated! Producers, researchers, distributors, and investors from all over the world met there in order to do business in 3D.
