Slovak scriptwriters Katarina Uhrova competes for the Krzysztof Kieslowski ScripTeast Award during the 2013 Cannes IFF with Retro Paradise, the story of a teen whose parents send him on holiday back to the era of socialism.

 

Romania is represented at this year’s Cannes Film Festival by two productions, the short film Shadow of a Cloud by Radu Jude, in the Quinzane des Realisateurs section and In the Fishtank, by Tudor Jurgiu, selected in the Cinefondation section.

Czech scriptwriter Václav Marhoul competes for the Krzysztof Kieslowski ScripTeast Award during the 2013 Cannes IFF with Painted Bird, theharrowing story of the wanderings of a boy abandoned by his parents during World War II, based on the novel by Jerzy Kosiński.

This year's international animated film festival boasts an exclusive guest. The world-renowned British animator and director Gerald Potterton is to assume the position of honorary president of the festival. His public profile grew mainly as a result of his work on the film “The Yellow Submarine” (Beatles) and as director of the cult animated sci-fi film “Heavy Metal”. Both films have been included in the festival program. AniFest takes place simultaneously in Teplice, Duchcov and Krupka from 26th April to 1st May 2013.

The 32nd Istanbul Film Festival,organised by the Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts (İKSV) and sponsored by AKBANK, ended on Sunday, April 14.

 

Preparing for a busy Marché du film, Berlin-based world sales m-appeal includes two new titles into its line-up that just have been finished: JAPANESE DOG by Romanian helmer Tudor Cristian Jurgiu and the Russian THE MAJOR by Yuri Bykov.

Krakow, 10th April 2013 – The organizers of the Krakow Film Festival have announced  the shortlist of films for the feature-length music documentaries competition, DocFilmMusic. It’s the first edition of this contest, the winner will be awarded with a Golden Heynal.
