BRATISLAVA: The freshly formed Park Film Fest Trenčianske Teplice is building upon the Slovak spa town’s film tradition as the host of 23 editions of Art Film Fest and last year’s IFF Trenčianske Teplice. Park Film Fest will introduce two competitive sections dedicated to female directors and student filmmakers. This year’s edition will be held on 23-26 June 2017.

BRATISLAVA: Acclaimed Slovak director Martin Šulík is shooting his new feature The Interpreter / Tlmočník. It is his first feature film after a long break following Gypsy / Cigán (produced by Titanic, In Film, and coproduced by Czech Television, RTVS) in 2011. The road movie will star Oscar-winning director Jiří Menzel and Toni Erdmann actor Peter Simonischek.

BRATISLAVA: The Teacher directed by Jan Hřebejk won five awards, including best film, at the Sun in a Net awards. But it was outshone by A Prominent Patient by Julius Ševčík, which received eight awards, including most of the technical awards.

BRATISLAVA: Miro Remo’s documentary Richard Müller: Unknown / Richard Müller: Nespoznaný will screen at the Slovak Film Week, a showcase for domestic production organised by the Slovak Film and Television Academy from 3 to 9 April 2017. The film focuses on the life of well-known Czech/Slovak singer Richard Müller.

BRATISLAVA: Ondrej Šulaj’s Agave / Agáva will screen at the Slovak Film Week, a showcase of domestic production organised by the Slovak Film and Television Academy from 3 to 9 April 2017. Slovak Film and Television Academy (SFTA) nominated Agave for best costume design and best make-up at the Sun in a Net national awards, set to be announced on 7 April 2017 as part of the Slovak Film Week event.

BRATISLAVA: Martin Kollar’s documentary 5 October will screen at the Slovak Film Week, a showcase for domestic production organised by the Slovak Film and Television Academy from 3 to 9 April 2017. This is the first film by the renowned photographer and DoP, who worked with Ivan Ostrochovský on Koza.

BRATISLAVA: The second edition of the Slovak Film Week, a showcase for domestic production organised by the Slovak Film and Television Academy, will be held in Bratislava from 4 to 9 April 2017.
