SARAJEVO: The 26th Sarajevo Film Festival which was to be held on-site from 14 to 21 August 2020, has been called off nine days before the opening. The organisers have announced that the whole festival will be moved online for this year’s edition. 

SARAJEVO: Sarajevo is getting prepared for a bit different Sarajevo Film Festival when it opens on 14 August 2020. It will have to be different because of the COVID-19 pandemic, but organisers are strongly determined to keep at least a part of the programme onsite. One of the first major film festivals to take place since the pandemic film professionals across Europe will be watching the event closely.

Jovan talks about the hybrid format for this year’s industry programme at the Sarajevo Film Festival with the first part taking place online and guests coming to Sarajevo for the second part.  The festival team has been working closely with health experts while watching the evolving situation in the run-up to what will be one of the first major festivals to take place in the region since the COVID pandemic.

SARAJEVO: The management of the new Sarajevo Cineplexx announced that they will open in time for this year’s Sarajevo Film Festival. Mirsad Purivatra, director of the Sarajevo Film Festival, announced that Cineplexx will be one of the new venues for this year’s festival, which will take place from 14 to 21 August 2020.

SARAJEVO: The Federal Department of Civilian Protection announced on 14 May 2020 that cinemas and cultural institutions can resume activities. In the Republika Srpska region of Bosnia and Herzegovina, cinemas are expected to open on 18 May.

SARAJEVO: Sarajevo Film Festival’s (14 – 21 August 2020) coproduction market CineLink has selected eight feature film projects by first and second time directors and five projects of TV series.

SARAJEVO: The Association of Filmmakers of Bosnia and Herzegovina sent a letter on 8 April 2020 to all the levels of the Government of Bosnia and Herzegovina asking for support for the industry and film professionals.

SARAJEVO: Docu Rough Cut Boutique, the Sarajevo Film Festival's and Balkan Documentary Center's development platform, has announced the five projects selected for its 2020 edition under the slogan “Staying together, apart”.
