BELGRADE: Young Serbian director Siniša Cvetić is in postproduction with his sophomore feature Lilacs / Jorgovani, whose shooting wrapped in late December 2022. The independent production is Cvetić’s second feature collaboration with Belgrade-based Košutnjak Film.

BELGRADE: The principal shooting of the American feature film Sybil directed by Joanne Mitchell wrapped in Serbia in December 2022. The production used Serbian film incentives.

BELGRADE: Film Center Serbia announced production grants for feature films, long documentaries, feature films for children and young audiences, as well as minority coproductions, including the new projects of Danis Tanović, Tamara Кotevska and Urša Menart.

BELGRADE: Serbian director Vladimir Perišić is currently in production with his sophomore feature Lost Country, which is a coproduction of France, Serbia, Luxembourg and Croatia, expected to premiere during 2023.

BELGRADE: Young Serbian director Nina Ognjanović’s debut feature Where the Road Leads / Ovuda će proći put has been picked up by the US sales agent Circus Road Films ahead of the film’s world premiere at the upcoming 29th edition of the Slamdance Film Festival in Park City, USA in January 2023.

BELGRADE: XYZ Films from Los Angeles has acquired the distribution rights for North America for the upcoming Serbian feature film Mudbrick / Kuća od blata.

BELGRADE: Serbian director Szabolcs Tolnai is currently in production with his new feature film Cycling With Zoli The Turk / Vožnja biciklom sa Zolijem Turčinom. This Serbian/Slovak coproduction has recently been supported by Eurimages. Prior to that, the project was supported by Film Center Serbia and the Slovak Film Institute.

BELGRADE: Director Mladomir Puriša Đorđević, one of the most important Yugoslav and Serbian film auteurs, died on 23 November 2022 aged 99.

BELGRADE: Serbian sport drama Golden Boy / Zlatni dečko directed by Ognjen Janković has been acquired by Amazon Prime. The distribution started on 20 November 2022 in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. The same goes for the TV series under the same title, consisting of five one-hour episodes.

BELGRADE: Serbian WW2 spy thriller melodrama Vera by Nedeljko Kovačić scores second place in its opening box office weekend in Serbia with 14,075 admissions and 62,269 EUR / 7,303,004 RSD gross. Marvel’s Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, which tops the weekend charts, had 19,523 admissions over the same period.
