BUCHAREST: Radu Ciorniciuc’s debut documentary Acasă, My Home / Acasă was awarded the World Cinema Documentary Special Jury Award for Cinematography (Radu Ciorniciuc and Mircea Topoleanu) at the 42nd Sundance Film Festival, which wrapped on 2 February 2020. The film is a Romanian/German/Finnish coproduction, which is also coproduced by HBO Europe. Lithuanian minority coproduction The Earth Is Blue as an Orange by Iryna Tsilyk, received the Directing Award: World Cinema Documentary.

BUCHAREST: Uppercase Print / Tipografic majuscul, one of the two films by Radu Jude selected for 2020 Berlinale’s Forum section, has been picked up by the Belgian sales company Best Friend Forever. The film will be released in Romania by Hi Film Productions on 21 February 2020, right before its screenings at the Berlinale.

TRIESTE: Bulgarian Women Do Cry directed by Mina Mileva and Vesela Kazakova was awarded the Film Center Serbia Development Award in the Co-Production Forum, the main section of the 10th When East Meets West (WEMW). The industry section of the Trieste Film Festival took place from 19 to 21 January 2020.
