WARSAW: This month we speak with Bożena Perska, the deputy manager of the Kosmos Cinema in the Polish city of Katowice. The cinema opened in 1965 in a building that today also hosts the Silesian Film Archive, and since then it's been a regular place for film fans, as it schedules film premiers, art house repertoire and classic titles.

BUCHAREST: The Romanian Film Centre (CNC) will distribute 4,176,495 EUR / 19,853,000 RON as production grants for feature films, debut feature, short fiction, documentary, animated and thematic films in its first round of grants in 2019.

BUCHAREST: Cătălin Mitulescu’s new feature film Heidi follows a police officer nearing retirement who is given the mission to find two prostitutes who are willing to testify in an organised crime case. The fourth feature film of the Romanian writer/director/producer had its world premiere in the main competition of the 25th Sarajevo Film Festival.

BUCHAREST: Tel Aviv-based sales agent  Cinephil has acquired collective / colectiv, the new documentary by German-Romanian filmmaker Alexander Nanau, which will screen in the Official Selection – Out of Competition at the Venice International Film Festival of the Biennale di Venezia (28 August – 7 September 2019).
