WARSAW: This month we speak with Bożena Perska, the deputy manager of the Kosmos Cinema in the Polish city of Katowice. The cinema opened in 1965 in a building that today also hosts the Silesian Film Archive, and since then it's been a regular place for film fans, as it schedules film premiers, art house repertoire and classic titles.
BUCHAREST: The Romanian Film Centre (CNC) will distribute 4,176,495 EUR / 19,853,000 RON as production grants for feature films, debut feature, short fiction, documentary, animated and thematic films in its first round of grants in 2019.
PODGORICA: FNE spoke with Sehad Čekić, the Head of Film Centre of Montenegro, about the many accomplishments that the Montenegrin cinema has had in less than two years and also about what lies ahead.
BUCHAREST: Dan Chișu’s new feature film 5 Minutes Too Late / 5 minute, inspired by real homophobic reactions that occurred during a screening of an LGBT film in Romania, was selected for the International Competition of the 35th edition of the Warsaw Film Festival (11-20 October 2019).
BUCHAREST: Romanian director Vali Hotea is currently shooting his sophomore feature Lebendsdorf aka I Hate Berlin in Romania and Germany. The film is a black comedy about indecision and the fear of taking responsibility, produced by Ada Solomon and Diana Păroiu through Romania’s HiFilm Productions.

BUCHAREST: Cătălin Mitulescu’s new feature film Heidi follows a police officer nearing retirement who is given the mission to find two prostitutes who are willing to testify in an organised crime case. The fourth feature film of the Romanian writer/director/producer had its world premiere in the main competition of the 25th Sarajevo Film Festival.
BUCHAREST: Tel Aviv-based sales agent Cinephil has acquired collective / colectiv, the new documentary by German-Romanian filmmaker Alexander Nanau, which will screen in the Official Selection – Out of Competition at the Venice International Film Festival of the Biennale di Venezia (28 August – 7 September 2019).
