Renowned for his original talent and unconventional style, Silver Bear-winning Bulgarian director Georgi Djulgerov (Advantage, 1977) is in postproduction on his 15th feature, Buffer Zone. The young company Front Film , run by the director’s ex-students, Nadejda Koseva and Svetla Tsotsorkova, was awarded with 472,430 EUR by the Bulgarian National Film Center for the project.

SOFIA: Ivan Nichev has started production on the Bulgarian-Israeli coproduction Concert for the Survivals at Nu Boyana Film Studios (www.nuboyana.com) where the production has planned 12 shooting days 

SOFIA: Bulgarian producer Konstantin Bojanov, born in 1968, is a quadruple-threat producer/writer/director/visual artist.

SOFIA: One of Bulgaria's most respected film directors Rangel Valtchanov is the new holder of the national Film Academy Lifetime Achievement award for 2012. 

SOFIA: Bulgaria’s leading commercial TV channel bTV began broadcasting the first two episodes of its new 12 parts series The Family on 7 April 2013. The premiere comes soon after the launch of The Ungiven by public broadcaster BNT.

SOFIA: On 21 March 2013 Bulgarian National Television begins broadcasting The Ungiven, a new 12 part historical series about the rescue of 48,000 Bulgarian Jews from death camps during World War II. 

SOFIA: The Grand Prix for best film in the International Competition for first and second films of the 17th Sofia IFF went to the black and white film Oh Boy by Jan Ole Gerster.

SOFIA: Actor Vladimir Penev was appointed Minister of Culture in the interim government by President Rosen Plevneliev on 12 March 2013.
