VARNA: Todor Matsanov’s feature film Block will screen in the main competition of the 40th Anniversary Golden Rose National Film Festival (23 – 29 September 2022). A+ will distribute the film in Bulgaria in November 2022.

VARNA: Ivan Panev’s debut feature Out of Season will screen in the main competition of the 40th Anniversary Golden Rose National Film Festival (23 – 29 September 2022).

SOFIA: The Bulgarian National Film Center has announced Martin Makariev’s period drama In the Heart of the Machine as the country’s new candidate for the 95th Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) award in the Best International Feature Film category.

VARNA: Lachezar Avramov’s sophomore feature Yellow Oleander is screening in the main competition of the 40th Anniversary Golden Rose National Film Festival (23 – 29 September 2022). The film is a black comedy with an ironic political twist.

VARNA: Ivan Pavlov’s feature film Spring Equinox will screen in the main competition of the 40th Anniversary Golden Rose National Film Festival (23 – 29 September 2022). The script is signed by Krassimir Kroumov, a respected film director/writer/researcher who passed away in 2015, leaving seven aesthetically sophisticated feature films.

VARNA: Valeri Yordanov’s sophomore feature Shakespeare Like a Street Dog will screen in the main competition of the 40th Anniversary Golden Rose National Film Festival (23 – 29 September 2022). The film follows the internationally successful Sneakers, produced by Gala Film, which Yordanov co-directed together with Ivan Vladimirov in 2011.

SOFIA: The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences rejected Zornitsa Sophia’s Bulgarian/German/Croatian coproduction Mother from participating in the race for Best International Feature Film award. The reason for the refusal, stating that the amount of the English dialogue exceeds the allowed 50 percent, was officially communicated to the Bulgarian National Film Center in writing.

VARNA: Petya Yossifova’s first feature film Giri will screen in the main competition of the 40th Anniversary Golden Rose National Film Festival (23 – 29 September 2022). The film is a teen and musical follow-up of Nikolay Georgiev’s 1988 TV drama The Little Giraffe, produced by the ex state-owned Bulgarian National Television.

VARNA: Zornitsa Sophia’s Bulgarian/German/Croatian coproduction Mother will screen in the main competition of the 40th Anniversary Golden Rose National Film Festival (23 – 29 September 2022).

VARNA: Petrinel Gochev’s Bulgarian Ship Sinks in Stormy Sea will screen in the main competition of the 40th Anniversary Golden Rose National Film Festival (23 – 29 September 2022). Leading theatre director, stage designer and artist Gochev makes his cinema debut.
