Baltic Event Co-Production Market Awards Announced

The Baltic Event Co-Production Market held its award ceremony in the brand new Nova building of the Baltic Film and Media School yesterday. The 11th Baltic Event, taking place on November 25-28 in Tallinn, granted four awards, including the first monetary prize of the market's history.

The prize of 5000 Euros worth of post-production services was given out by Estonian Digital Centre and went to Lithuanian producer Rasa Miskinyte, who presented the project Escaping Sunshine. Immediately after receiving the award, Mrs Miskinyte along with writer-director Allan van O. T. Andersen and the project's crowdfunding and marketing expert Andrius Lekavicius, were taken on a tour of the premises where the award is going to be used.

The traditional prize of the Co-Production Market-the Screen International Best Pitch Award, given out by the market's long time partner Screen International, was given out for the fourth time this year. As a result of the vote, Screen's representative Martin Blaney handed the diploma to Estonian producer Kiur Aarma, whose project The Hoppers is directed by acclaimed director Jaak Kilmi. A feature article on the project will be published on screendaily.com, and Martin Blaney will continue to monitor the film's progress through development and production.

Cannes Marché du film Producer's Network awarded free accreditation of the network to two producers. The first went to the representative of this year's focus country, Kazakhstan, Serik Abishev, who participated in the market with the project The Journalist. The second Producer's Network prize was taken home by the Estonian animation studio Nukufilm producers Kerdi Oengo and Andrus Raudsalu, whose project Morten on the Ship of Fools is written and directed by EFA-nominated filmmaker Kaspar Jancis.
