IFF Prague – Febiofest has unveiled its complete program

IFF Prague – Febiofest has improved the program and boosted weekends

21st edition of IFF Prague – Febiofest will take place from March 20th to 28th in Cinestar Andel, Prague. The complete program, consisting of 141 films from 60 countries divided into 18 program sections, was released today on www.febiofest.cz/. The viewers can look forward to 542 screenings altogether (436 in Prague). The ticket sale begins on Wednesday, March 12th, at Noon.

The complete program is here: http://www.febiofest.cz/en/program

Apart from films on all of Cinestar Andel’s screens, the program also includes a screening in MeetFactory. A distinguished French guest of the festival, animator and director Sylvain Chomet, will introduce his film, The Illusionist, there on March 26th at 7 p.m., followed by a discussion with the audience as well as artists.

The program includes also all regional echoes together with a newly added day of Febiofest in Mikulov – on April 15th.

World Panorama is offering an abundant selection, including films in 3D

The program is dominated by an extensive section of World Panorama. For example, it contains the latest film by a past winner of the Kristian Award for his Contribution to World Cinema, Roman Polanski's Venus in Fur. Jude Law will introduce himself as an eccentric who commands Dom Hemingway. The section will also present 3D spectacles – Bull Running in Pamplona, Stalingrad, and “a game with genre cards” represented by Gold by Thomas Arslan from Germany.

Febiofest will also introduce the most acclaimed Polish film of the year, Ida by Pawel Pawlikowski (a guest of the 2012 festival). Alain Guiraudie has stirred the festival scene with Stranger by the Lake, which is included in the program as well, and Febiofest also returns to the films of Denis Villeneuve from Canada, who made the captivating Enemy with Jake Gyllenhaal.

The festival has prepared a viewer's guide about all practicalities. You can find it online here:

More films at the weekend. IFF Prague – Febiofest has changed the screening scheme

The films at this year's 21st edition of the festival are distributed differently, with emphasis on the weekend. “We want to accommodate viewers' preferences,” says Fero Fenic, the president of the festival. Based also on the results of last year's survey among the viewers, this year's program is different, with stronger focus on screenings on Saturday, March 22nd, and Sunday, March 23rd. “We have boosted weekend program with more frequent screenings from morning hours, and not only children's films of Febiofest Junior. Most halls will have five screenings a day at the weekend. We have moved some screenings, which the viewers couldn't see during the week because of work or school, to the weekend,” says program director Stefan Uhrik.
