New Horizons Association at the 70th International Film Festival in Cannes

    This year, the New Horizons Association will have a strong presence at the Cannes International Film Festival.

     New Horizons' Polish Days Goes to Cannes at the Marché du Film

    Together with the Polish Film Institute, T-Mobile New Horizons International Film Festival will have the honor of presenting a selection of Polish films at various stages of production at the Marché du Film as part of the New Horizons' Polish Days Goes to Cannes program. The aim of the program is to present to the international film industry Polish films that do not yet have sales agents, distributors, or dates for festival premieres.

    As part of the New Horizons' Polish Days Goes to Cannes program, five titles will be presented on 23 May, including three full-length debuts: Diagnoza (Diagnosis), a documentary directed by Ewa Podgórska; Trzy upadki świętego (Three Falls of the Saint), Jacek Januszyk's feature debut; and Wieża. Jasny dzień (The Tower: Broad Daylight), Jagoda Szelc's feature debut; as well as Mariusz Wilczyński's animated film Zabij to i wyjedź z tego miasta (Kill It and Get Out of Town) and Dorota Kędzierzawska Żużel’s latest film. This will offer a preview of the Polish Days event that will take place on 8-10 August 2017 during the 17th T-Mobile New Horizons International Film Festival (3-13 August 2017).

    Jury for the Directors’ Fortnight (Quinzaine des Réalisateurs) Competition to Include Joanna Żak

    Joanna Żak, Programming Coordinator at the New Horizons Cinema, will be part of the jury that will award the prestigious Europa Cinemas Label prize for the best film atthe Directors' Fortnight (Quinzaine des Réalisateurs) competition. In addition to Joanna, the jury will also include Roger Gibson, Hannele Pellinen, and Paolo Moretti. The winning film will receive support for distribution at cinemas associated with the Europa Cinemas network.

    The Directors' Fortnight (Quinzaine des Réalisateurs) competition was established by the French Directors Guild. It screens works by promising young filmmakers. From the very beginning, it has promoted bold, avant-garde cinema. This is where some of the world's leading original filmmakers showed their first films, including Werner Herzog, George Lucas, Martin Scorsese, Ken Loach, Jim Jarmusch, Jerzy Skolimowski, the Dardenne brothers, and Michael Haneke.

    Representatives of the T-Mobile New Horizons International Film Festival and the American Film Festival

    Representatives of the T-Mobile New Horizons International Film Festival will be present at this year's Cannes Film Festival, including Artistic Director Marcin Pieńkowski, Programmer Małgorzata Sadowska, and Head of Industry Weronika Czołnowska, as well as the Artistic Director of the American Film Festival, Urszula Śniegowska.
