Competition Program - Short Film is one of the most exciting sections of the Sarajevo Film Festival. Limited only by running time, short film is one of the least restrictive art forms that allows its consumers to have several different cinematic experiences in a relatively short time. The program aims to introduce aspiring regional filmmakers and their short films to wider audiences and film professionals.
For this year’s edition of the program, 11 films - seven of them world and four regional premieres - were selected from over 500 submissions in competition, and one omnibus will be presented out of competition. Selected films will compete for the Heart of Sarajevo Award for the best short film and a Special Jury Mention. Read more
Competition Programme – Student Film
The second edition of the Competition Program - Student film will present 13 short and medium-length films, including 10 features, two documentaries and one animated film. The selected films, all with the run time of up to 60 minutes, were produced as part of the teaching process in the regional film schools. One full-length feature, an omnibus directed by graduates of the Sam Spiegel Film and Television School, as well as three films by students of the guest school of our program, the London Film School, will be screened out of competition. The Sarajevo Film Festival will once again present a rich and diverse selection of student films whose quality equals that of the titles by professional filmmakers from our region. Selected films will compete for the Heart of Sarajevo Award for the best student film. Read more
