Five Black Nights Stars Announced

    Industry@Tallinn has selected five young actors and actresses to join the 2018 Black Nights Stars programme, to be presented during Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival. Formerly Screen Stars Tallinn, Black Nights Stars runs for the second time, with the aim of promoting young actors and actresses from the Baltic Sea region.

    The Black Nights Stars programme will take place between November 26-28 during the Industry@Tallinn &; Baltic Event and is designed to help young actors from the Baltic Sea region to promote their talent outside their home territory, meet with international film professionals, and gain practical skills for future international careers.

    A jury of International film professionals has selected the following five actors:

    Emma Marrott (Denmark)
    Liis Lass (Estonia)
    Pääru Oja (Estonia)
    Agnese Cīrule (Latvia)
    Satu Tuuli Karhu (Finland)

    The Black Nights Film Festival gives out the Best Young Estonian Actor Award, named after Estonian-Polish film actor and singer Bruno O’Ya, the 2018 winner will also join the five actors for the event. 

    The 2018 jury consists of editor Matt Mueller (Screen International), Estonian film producer Katrin Kissa (November, The Temptation of St. Tony, Autumn Ball), former European Shooting Star, actor (The Man Who Looks Like Me, Autumn Ball), director and writer Rain Tolk, UK- and USA-based casting director Jeremy Zimmerman (Moon, Hellboy, Willow, Keeping Mum) and creative producer Claudia Landsberger.

    Highlighting the emerging talent, Black Nights Stars’ selection of five young actors and actresses is based on their first feature films and TV roles. During the programme, selected talents will participate in a three-day lab and showcase programme as well as several workshops, panel talks, meetings, presentations, and industry networking events.

    The Black Nights Stars actors’ programme is presented by Industry@Tallinn & Baltic Event during the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival and is supported by the European Regional Development Fund via Enterprise Estonia and the Creative Industries’ Development Centre Creative Gate.
