New Horizons Studio+ awarded projects

    The ninth edition of New Horizons Studio+ took place July 27 – 30 during the 18th New Horizons International Film Festival (July 26 – August 5).

    Organized by the New Horizons Association and Creative Europe Desk Poland, it consisted of workshops and lectures on various aspects related to the project promotion and development.

    New Horizons Studio+ selects European director-producer pairs who are developing their first or second feature film. 10 emerging talents from Poland and 10 from Denmark, Austria, Ukraine, Romania and the United Kingdom took part in the programme under the supervision of the following experts: David Pope (London Film Academy); Alya Belgaroui (EAVE), representing sales agent Wild Bunch; Aranka Matits (EAVE), representing Featurette and Raquel Cabrera from The Film Agency.

    The New Horizons Studio+ program was completed with a meeting with the special guest Ewa Puszyńska - the producer of Cold War by Paweł Palikowski, which was a part of Creativity Talks organized by the British Council.

    The participants took part in the pitching contest. The jury selecting the best project and pitch (composed of Aranka MatitsRaquel Cabrera, David Pope as well as Creative Europe Desk Poland, New Horizons Association, Ale kino+ television channel representatives and a special guest Matthieu Darras – TorinoFilmLab’s Artistic Director) decided to give two main awards and a special mention.

    The Floor is Lava (directed by Kateryna Gornostai and produced by Viktoria Khomenko) received the New Horizons Association & London Film Academy Main Award. The award is project consultation sponsored  by London Film Academy.

    Even If You Fall Asleep (directed by Aniela Gabryel and produced by Agnieszka Dziedzic)  received Ale kino+ Television Channel Award, which is the Letter of Intent for TV distribution.

    If the Light Takes Us (directed by Anna Maria Helgadottir and produced by Per Damgaard Hansen) received a Special Mention.
