From Tallinn with updates: Industry@Tallinn & Baltic Event opens Works In Progress submission and announces first Music Meets Film speaker!

    Starting from today we are accepting project submissions for Works In Progress showcases. As we will launch the Just Film Works In Progress, there will be a special session of children's and youth film projects. Just Film is the largest sub-festival of Black Nights taking place during the main festival, that will be celebrating its19th consecutive year with approximately 50 children's and youth feature films screened

    Some of last year's projects have already been experiencing international success as Dogs Don't Wear Pants (Finland) was selected for Quinzaine des Realisateurs and Karlovy Vary and Days of the Whale (Colombia) landed at SXSW.

    Project submission deadline: 15 September, 2019.

    SCRIPT POOL WINNER HEADS TO TIFF

    Great news from Canada! The winner of the 2017 edition of Script Pool Tallinn, Shonali Bose has finished her film The Sky Is Pink that she co-wrote with Nilesh Maniyar who was presenting the project in Tallinn (the two also co-directed and wrote Margharita With A Straw, best actress award at Black Nights FF in 2014). The Sky Is Pink will have its world premiere as a gala screening at the Toronto International Film Festival this September!

    MUSIC MEETS FILM'S FIRST SPEAKER: RICHARD HARVEY

    British composer and production company West One Music co-founder Richard Harvey is a BAFTA winner, a respected orchestral conductor and a virtuoso performer on a wide range of Western and ethnic instruments. He became involved in composing for film and television in the 1970s and has scored over 80 television and film projects to date, from British television series, documentaries and feature-length TV films, to major Hollywood titles.

    At Music Meets Film 2019, running from the 25th until the 27th of Nov, Harvey shares his insights into his composition realm using historic and ethnic instruments in film music, about scoring trends and the direction of film music in the future.
