Iraqi Short Films wins Jihlava main prize

    Iraqi Short Films, an Argentinian production directed by Mauro Andrizzi, based on videos shot on mobile films, won the main prize at the 12th Jihlava documentary festival on October 28.

    The unique jury consisted of one member, Karel Vachek, Other competition sections followed the more standard jury format. The jury for Between the Seas, a competition of documentaries from Central and Eastern Europe, gave it's main prize to Romanian director Thomas Ciulei's The Flower Bridge. A special mention went to Estonian director Aliona Polunina's film The Revolution That Wasn't.

    The prize for best experimental film went to Austria's Elke Groen for Nightstill. The audience award went to the Czech film Rene by Helena Trestikova.

    Ivetka and the Mountain by Vit Janacek won the Czech Joy prize for best Czech documentary. Special mention went to Redemption Attempt of a TV Repairman Josef Lavicka in Nine Scenes from director Lukas Kokes.

    185 film professionals were accredited by the festival's market, East Silver.
