KRAKOW FILM FESTIVAL HAS FINISHED THE SECTION FOR 49th EDITION

    Krakow, 20th February 2009 - Krakow Film Festival has finished the selection for its 49th edition. Over 2200 documentary, animated and short films have been submitted to the competition.

    Accordingly Krakow Film Market, which accompanies the Festival, has finished the selection for its 4th edition.

    Traditionally, European countries have submitted the biggest number of films. The organizers have received 262 applications from France, 218 submissions have come from Germany and on the third place is Italy with 167 productions. Polish filmmakers, who were triumphant during 48th edition of the Festival, have submitted 153 short fiction films, 45 documentaries and 29 animations.

    Krakow Film Festival is an object of interest outside Europe too - great number of submissions comes from USA, Canada, Brazil, India, China and Australia, but also productions from smaller countries like Bahrain, Cambodia, French Guiana or Burkina Faso will be taken into the consideration by Selection Committee.

    The Selection Committee has already started to work intensively on choosing films in three categories, for the Polish, International and Feature-length Documentaries competitions. The results of their work will be announced in the beginning of April.

    49th Krakow Film Festival will take place on 29th May - 4th June. The organizers promise seven days filled with over 300 screenings: films in competition, retrospectives of the masters, thematic cycles like selected music clips, music films, and the newest documentaries.

    The Festival will be accompanied by digital Krakow Film Market, which becomes more and more important for the industry and Dragon Forum pitching, which gives young filmmakers opportunity to realize their projects.
