Karlovy Vary lines up 14 competition films

European films dominate the 14-film strong selection of the 44th Karlovy Vary International Film Festival (www.kviff.com), running July 3-11.

Slovakia, Hungary, and Poland are each represented with one film, as are Croatia and Russia. The usual suspects show up in the remainder of the European selection -- France, Italy, Germany, Belfium, Denmark -- while from farther afield, Iran, South Korea, USA, and (more unusually) Mexico each earned a competition slot. The slate is comprised of three world premieres, ten international premieres and one European premiere.
