    EAST SILVER Doc Market - SILVER EYE Award
    Jihlava, Czech Republic, October 27 - November 1, 2009

    This year, for the very first time, East Silver market announces SILVER EYE award for support of distribution and promotion of exceptional films from Eastern Europe.

    SILVER EYE is an award for the best feature, mid and short length documentary of the East Silver Market. Documentaries have been selected from East Silver Market submissions 2009. Selection committee has nominated 11 films in each category. Best films will be awarded by prize money of EUR 1 500 - Best Short Documentary, Best Mid-Length and Best Feature Documentary.

    East Silver Eye winners will be announced at the 6th East Silver Market during the Closing ceremony of the XIII. Jihlava International Documentary Film Festival on October 31, 2009.

    DOC ALLIANCE FILMS - DOK Leipzig Special: Festival Films for Free

    Premiere on http://www.docalliancefilms.com/ For the first time since launching the VoD portal DOK Leipzig presents a special Festival Stream. From October 27 to November 1 outstanding award-winning films from past festival editions are free for streaming on http://www.docalliancefilms.com/.

    The shortfilm "BerlinBeirut" by Myrna Maakaron, in German Competition 2004, is dealing with Berlin and Beirut as formerly divided cities. A contribution to the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin wall and the general collapse of communist rule in Central Europe.

    "Don't Get Me Wrong" on the other hand is the debut by Adina Pintilie, a true poetic master piece. The precise and yet highly sensitive portrait of psychiatric hospital residents was awarded the Golden Dove at DOK Leipzig 2007.

    Besides these films, already on October 21 docalliancefilms.com will present films awarded at Jihlava IDFF 2008. You can watch Ivetka and the Mountain by Vít Janeček, René by Helena Třeštíková and others for free.

    JIHLAVA IDFF - International hits in Jihlava from October 27
    13th Jihlava IDFF, Czech Republic, October 27 - November 1, 2009

    13th Jihlava IDFF 2009 will offer more than 190 films in 13 sections. Besides of the official competitive selection many international hits will be screened in the special selection. New Michael Moore´s provocative „docu-grimace", Michael Winterbottom and Naomi Klein´s Shock Doctrine, Maradona viewed by Emir Kusturica or Graphic Sexual Horror wait for festival audience. We start on October 27!

    Docu-buses are going between Jihlava and Vienna and Jihlava and DOKLeipzig festival. The bus from Vienna leaves on October 28 at 10.00 a.m. (in front of the Vienna University, Dr. Karl Lueger Ring 1). On October 30 at 5 p.m. the bus goes back to Vienna from where it goes to Jihlava again at 8.30 p.m (departure from the same place). From Leipzig (Festival centre, Katharinenstrasse 10) the bus leaves on October 28 at 10 a.m. From Jihlava back at 4 p.m. And on October 30 at 10 a.m. from Leipzig (the same place) and at 4 p.m. from Jihlava.
