50th Krakow Film Festival Highlights – the fourth day, 3rd of June 2010

    12pm - 'Still a Documentary or Already Fiction?' - a panel discussion chaired by Professor Tadeusz Lubelski, The International Cultural Centre, „Pod Kruki" Hall, Rynek Główny 25

    Discussion about blurring of the boundaries between the documentary and feature film - recently-fashionable hybrid genres, such as mocumentary, docufiction, animated documentary.

    2pm - Marcin Sauter's Photography Exhibition vernissage with participation of the author, The International Cultural Centre, Rynek Główny 25

    The earliest photographs displayed on the exhibition were created during the film workshops within the Russia-Poland. New Gaze Project in Moscow, in 2005.

    Marcin Sauter about his photography:

    "I transferred the need to tell a story about people from photography into film. It is much easier to do it in this medium; time and words help."

    5pm - a screening of a film from the Focus on Israel cycle "The Prisoner", dir. Asaf Sudry, KINO POD BARANAMI, Red Auditorium

    Plot: Benny has just left prison and tries to rebuild his contact with the family. He quickly sees for himself that the people, who used to be close to him, lead new lives and do not want to change them.

    5.30pm - a screening of a film from the Jonas Mekas Retrospective ‘As I Was Moving Ahead Occasionally I Saw Brief Glimpses of Beauty', dir. Jonas Mekas, ARS, Reduta

    Plot: In a work of imposing scale Mekas records banal moments of family happiness, private holidays, simple and everyday actions, life without dramatic turns and tensions.

    7.30pm - a screening of a film from the Krakow Film Premieres cycle ‘Driving Men' dir. Susan Mogul, KINO POD BARANAMI, Red Auditorium

    Plot: Susan Mogul, the director, performance artist, feminist, with humour and distance carries out a vivisection of her relationships with men important in her life - lovers, brothers, father (among them, there is one man from Krakow).
