OFF Plus CAMERA International Festival Of Independent Cinema

The 4th edition of OFF PLUS CAMERA International Festival of Independent Cinema will take place from the 8th to the 17th of April in Krakow, Poland.

We debuted in October 2008 with a successful international line-up of artists and films. In conjunction with the City Of Krakow we established the Krakow Film Award, an award of $100,000. This year our international jury will be headed by Jerzy Skolimowski. During the upcoming edition of the festival we are introducing a Polish Dramatic Competition with ten new Polish films competing for the best Polish Feature Film Award of $10 000. Additionally all films presented during the festival will be competing for the Audience Award of $10 000.

However the OFF PLUS CAMERA is much more than great prizes. Festivals sections are carefully programmed in cooperation with the Sundance Institute and a team of international film experts. Every year the festival hosts acclaimed filmmakers and award-winning actors and actresses. Anna Karina, Seymour Cassel, Lea Thomson, Jane Campion, Fernando Trueba, Mike Figgis and many more came to Krakow in previous years.

The festival also features an in-depth programme of workshops, masterclasses, lectures and seminars with some of the world's most talented and creative filmmakers, all open to industry professionals as well as to university students. Our objective is to bring industry experts from all over the world to meet and network with local filmmakers.

Roger Christian, an Academy Award-winning production designer and art director who worked with George Lucas on Star Wars, will lead a lecture and workshops on the creative and technical aspects of production design, focusing on productions requiring the use of special effects. Christian will talk about his experiences in working on creating iconic characters and artifacts, such as robots R2-D2 and C-3PO, the 'Lightsaber' laser swords and the mask of Darth Vader.

One of the most acclaimed casting directors, Ellen Chenoweth, will lead workshops for producers and casting professionals. Ellen Chenoweth will also be a juror in the Polish Dramatic Competition. In recent years, Chenoweth has cooperated with the Cohen Brothers, on productions such as "Burn After Reading", "No Country for Old Men" (winner of four Academy Awards) and "True Grit", which was nominated for 10 Oscars this year.

We believe you would enjoy your visit to Poland. Krakow, where the OFF CAMERA Festival is held, is a landmark city where every moment becomes a moment of history. It is also a vibrant university town with a student population of more than 200,000 and one of the top tourist destinations in Europe.
