The RUSSIAN PAVILION at the The 64th INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL DE CANNES

The Russian Pavilion is the Russian film industry's official centre at the Cannes Film Festival & Market, and it will be open to the public in the International Village from May 12 to May 20, 2011.

This universal platform is aimed at promoting Russian cinema and to help international filmmakers, distributors and media representatives establish contacts with their counterparts in the Russian film industry. The Russian Pavilion also provides information on co-production possibilities with Russian filmmakers and participation at Russian film festivals.

This year Russia is represented at Cannes by the director Bakur Bakuradze, whose film The Hunter was selected for competition in Un Certain Regard. A press conference with members of the cast and crew of The Hunter will be held at the Russian Pavilion. Also, there will be screenings of new Russian films currently at different stages of production. Most will be promoted in the international community. The organisers believe that these films will generate interest among selectors of various film festivals, as well as foreign distributors, and they hope that Russian films currently in production will find foreign partners for co-production. Finally, the pavilion will also feature presentations by Russian film industry educators who will discuss programmes designed to enhance co-operation between Russian universities and foreign film schools.

The Russian Pavilion's programme is available on http://www.ruspav.com/, and includes a selection of panel discussions with Russian filmmakers and industry professionals, as well as presentations by Russian film festivals and educators. In addition, the website allows you to

    • access the 2011 editions of the guides: Russian Films, 2008-2011; the Russian films screening schedule; information on the Russian companies in Cannes.

    • use the terrace for your own meetings, access to free wi-fi, and much more.

Please register on http://www.ruspav.com/ if you want to get programme updates and news.
