VIENNA: Famous Croatian producer and Holocaust survivor Branko Lustig received the Goldener Rathausmann from the Mayor of the City of Vienna on 7 October. Lustig is in Vienna as a guest of the LET'S CEE Film Festival which is showing 91 productions from Central and Eastern Europe from 2 to 11 October 2014.
After having produced Schindler’s List, Gladiator, Kingdom of Heaven and Black Hawk Down, 82-year-old Branko Lustig moved back to Zagreb a few years ago. As co-founder of the Shoah Foundation and honorary president of the Festival of Tolerance he is fighting against the neglect of the horrors of Holocaust. At the LET’S CEE Film Festival in Vienna he curated a series of anti-war films and held an Educational Morning in German for Austrian students for the very first time.
LET’S CEE Film Festival also welcomes other important guests such as Istvan Szabo who was honoured with the Stern der Urania for his achievements at the opening ceremony, Romanian director Cristi Puiu, Bosnian director Aida Begic and the Slovene director Damian Kozole.
