FESTIVALS: Sarajevo Film Festival Announces Changes

By

SARAJEVO: In the wake of the 23rd edition of Sarajevo Film Festival, serious changes were announced aiming at enhancing synergies between the already existing segments – programming & industry (CineLink Industry Days) and training (Talents Sarajevo). The Board also announced a new programme, Competition Programme – Student Film.

In 2017, the Sarajevo Film Festival will take place from 11 to 18 August, making it two days shorter than previous editions. The change in duration is due, among other things, to the decision that CineLink Industry Days should be parallel to other festival events and not concentrating on the last days of the festival.

“By condensing the three key segments of the festival, film programmes, industry programme and training programme, we are increasing the overall intensity of the festival for our audience, guests and the media,” Jovan Marjanović, Head of Industry at Sarajevo FF, told FNE. “This will allow us to build on the synergies between the three and to offer added value to everyone involved. As always, we are adapting to our new audience demands and trying to raise the bar higher when it comes to festival organisation”.

The new competition programme is focused on films made at regional film schools and academies, promoting new talents from their earliest experiences with professional filmmaking. This programme, combined with the already existing training platform Sarajevo Talents, will further empower the effect that Sarajevo FF has on the development of the film industry in Southeast Europe.
