TV News Channel Starts Broadcasting in Bulgaria

    SOFIA: Bulgaria On Air, registered as part of the Bulgaria On Air Media Group (www.bgonair.bg), will begin broadcasting its 24 hour program on 9 September 2011. According to the Media Group executive director Viktoria Mitkova, "The newest TV channel on the market will feature business-oriented and economic themes." It replaces the former private channel MSat TV founded in 1996.

    The backbone of the program will be its news broadcasts, lasting 30 minutes every hour from 7 am to 11 am and from 17 pm to 18 pm. In midday the news programme will last 60 minutes and in the evening, 90 minutes. Bulgaria On Air also intends to produce formats dealing with financial themes focused to representatives of small and medium-sized business. Twenty minute programs such as "Deal of the Week" or "Business Class" will introduce the most unusual businesses in the country, sports, recreation and tourist destinations. Bulgaria On Air promises to follow daily the main events in the money, bonds and financial sectors. At the end of the week the channel plans to broadcast a 60 minutes summary entitled "Invest Book".

    The channel also intends to communicate online with "networking groups," to encourage audience participation through opinions, proposals and even solutions to concrete cases.

    Bulgaria On Air will be broadcast in a 16:9 format and will be received digitally by nearly 85% of the country's cable network. The terrestrial coverage will be for 13 Bulgarian towns. In Europe the TV channel will be available be satellite.
