Bulgaria Confronts Digital TV Dilemma

By

SOFIA: Following the 30 September switch off of analogue TV which left some 100,000 rural residents without digital transmission, Bulgaria is set to spend an additional 800,000 BGN on it digital TV advertising campaign.

The informational print media campaign will be aimed at low income and elderly Bulgarians who have been adversely affected by the loss of the analogue TV signal. However, nearly 400 rural areas are not covered by digital TV signals, leaving residents without access to public TV, Bulgarian media reports.

The campaign, which runs through 15 December 2013, is an extension of what has been called one of the most expensive advertising campaigns ever funded by the Bulgarian government.
