SOFIA: Bulgaria’s National Film Center is organising the 12th National Cinema Day on 13 January 2016. A Memorandum will be signed with the National Palace of Culture aimed at turning the Palace’s Lumiere theatre into the country’s first screen for Bulgarian films.

This year the celebrations of the National Cinema Day take place under the slogan Sofia in Cinema and Cinema in Sofia and are possible thanks to the cooperation with the Sofia Municipality, the Bulgarian National Film Archive, the National Palace of Culture and the Union of Bulgarian Filmmakers.

The main premiere of the day will be Yavor Veselinov’s Sofia 100 Years Capital of the Bulgarian Cinema, produced by Gala Film.

The Bulgarian National Archive will also organize free screenings of Peter Vasilev’s comedy Master of All Trade (1962, Boyana Studios) and of four documentaries from the 50s, 60s and the 70s dedicated to Sofia. The Cinematheque Theatre Odeon will also host the premiere of the first four titles of the portmanteau film Five Minutes Sofia, producedby actor/singer Kamen Vodenicharov.
