Bulgaria Approves New Minister of Culture

    SOFIA: Rashko Mladenov has been approved Minister of Culture in the caretaker government of Ognyan Gerdzhikov, appointed by the country’s newly elected president Rumen Radev on 26 January 2017. Mladenov will serve until the parliamentary elections in 26 March 2017.

    Rashko Mladenov is a well-known theatre and film actor, stage director and composer. He was the director of the Aleko Konstantinov State Satirical Theatre from 1997 to 2006, the director of the Sava Ognianov Drama Theatre in Russe from 2010 and 2012, and the acting director of the Nikola Vaptsarov Drama Theatre in Blagoevgrad from 2013 to 2015.

    Mladenov is replacing Vejdi Rashidov, who headed the Ministry of Culture twice, without being able to finish his mandates.

    For the moment, no official announcement has been made regarding the future vice-minister of Culture, who will be responsible for film until 26 March 2017.
