Sunny Side’s 6th documentary film co-production meeting is a success

By

After gatherings in New York, Toronto, Washington, Montreal and London, Sunny Side of the Doc held its 6th co-production Rendezvous in Sofia, Bulgaria, March 11 to 14, 2009.

175 participants from 22 European countries (11 from the East / 11 from the West) exchanged documentary projects during 4 days, reaching several agreements. For example, ECPAD found a German co-producer, and MDR-ARD as its broadcaster, for the film "Propaganda Kompanien".

32 decision makers were present, including from the BBC, Channel 4, The History Channel UK, MDR, NDR, Pro Sieben, PBS Malta, YLE Finland, Romania TV, TV Poland, Bulgarian TV, Duna TV Hungary, Arte, France 2 and France 3, among others.

23 projects were pitched, demonstrating their high production value and originality, including the Serbian project "Cinema Komunisto" by Mila Turajlic.

The film that opened the event, Michael Prazan's "EINSATZGRUPPEN, the Nazi death squads", by France 2 and Kuiv Productions, made an impact on all the participants, and will be broadcast on France 2.

The meetings and forums helped everyone better understand how to co-produce with East European countries.

Between June 23 and 26, Sunny Side celebrates its 20th year!

    Registration is now open.
