PRODUCTION: Cricket and Antoinette in Development

    ZAGREB: Darko Bakliza is in development with Cricket and Antoinette, and 80 minute animated film produced by Dino Krpan and Diedra (www.diedra.hr).

    The film received a production grant of 530,000 Euro from the Croatian Audiovisual Centre (www.havc.hr).

    Cvrcak i Mrvica/Cricket and Antoinette is now in the form of a second draft script, character design, concept background art and first draft storyboard," Krpan told FNE. The animation is in 3D CGI "with a touch of illustrated books look," he added. The genre is a family comedy especially for children of 8-12 years old. The central character is Django, a guitar playing cricket who falls in love with a clever young female ant, Antoinette.

    {mosimage}Bakliza and Marko Hrenovic wrote the script. Alexey Alexeev is story supervisor. From a budget of 3.5 million Euro, 25 % is already in place, Krpan told FNE. Negotiations with coproducers are underway. The project was pitched at Cartoon Movie 2011 (http://www.cartoon-media.be) - project in concept, Animafest pitching forum 2011, Zagreb (www.animafest.hr), Creative Focus Annecy 2011 (http://www.annecy.org/annecy) - Project in spotlight.

    There is no sales agent yet, but Continental Film (www.continental-film.hr) already expressed its interest in distributing the film in Croatia, Bosnia &Herzegovina and Slovenia. The premiere is set for late 2014/early 2015
