FESTIVALS: Concrete Night and Number 55 Win at Pula IFF

    PULA: Pirjo Honkasalo's Concrete Night / Betoniyö has been awarded Golden Arena for Best Feature Film in the International Programme of the 61st Pula IFF, 12-26 July 2014. Number 55 / Broj 55 made by Kristijan Milić for the Croatian Radiotelevision was awarded Best Film in the Croatian feature competition.

    Based on true events that happened during the Croatian War of Independence, the drama Number 55 was also awarded best director and for script, editing, special effects, costume design, make-up and art direction. Milić's film won shoulder to shoulder with Zvonimir Jurić's The Reaper / Kosac, produced by Kinorama which won best leading actor, best supporting actor, best cinematography and The Oktavijan Award from the Croatian Critics Association.

    In the same competition Darko Šuvak's Happy Endings was awarded best leading actress and best supporting actress, while Zagreb Cappuccino by Vanja Sviličić was awarded The Breza Award for best debut (for the DoP Danko Vučinović) and best original music.

    Beside the Golden Arena for Best Feature Film given to the Finnish film Concrete Night, the jury Leo also awarded Amour Fou (Austria) by Jessica Hausner with a Special Mention.
