HAMBURG: Croatian actress Tihana Lazović is one of the ten rising young European thespians selected for the European Shooting Stars of 2016.
Lazović was nominated by the Croatian Audiovisual Centre. She is the only representative from the CEE region named for the 2016 honour. In announcing Lazović’s selection, the jury’s commented: “Playing three characters in three different stories of the Balkan conflict, Tihana carries all the emotions of love and hatred in her raw, forceful screen presence. We saw an instinctive, versatile actress who embodied the film’s life-affirming humanity.”
The remaining nine European Shooting Stars of 2016 are Martha Canga Antonio (Belgium), Lou de Laâge (France), Jella Haase (Germany), Daphné Patakia (Greece), Atli Óskar Fjalarsson (Iceland), Sara Serraiocco (Italy), Reinout Scholten van Aschat (The Netherlands), María Valverde (Spain) and Kacey Mottet Klein (Switzerland). The group will be officially introduced at the 2016 Berlinale.
