ZAGREB: Nine feature animated films are competing in the main competition of Animafest Zagreb which runs 6-11 June 2016.

The festival screens 14 short Croatian animated films in the Croatian section.

The festival, which was launched in 1972 with the backing of ASIFA as the East European sister to the Annecy festival, is the second oldest festival of animated films in the world.

The festival also hosts a two-day industry programme, Animafest Scanner, on 7 and 8 June.

Animafest Zagreb is the only Croatian A-list festival. Its short film competition Grand Prix winners qualify directly for the Academy Awards. Over 300 short and feature animated films will be screened at the festival.
