ZAGREB: Ivona Juka’s debut feature You Carry Me / Ti mene nosiš has been bought by Netflix. This Croatian/Slovenian/Serbian/Montenegrin coproduction is the first film from the region bought by the world’s most famous VOD service.

You Carry Me follows three daughters as they fight for acceptance, redemption and new opportunities. Dora is a neglected girl who dreams about becoming a football manager, Ives, a soap opera director while Nataša, a successful producer, is pregnant.

The film is produced by Croatia's 4 Film in coproduction with Slovenia’s Vertigo, Serbia's Sloane Film Production and the Montenegrin Galileo Production. The main characters are played by Lana Baric, Natasa Janjic, N. Dorčić, Helena Beljan, Vojislav Brajovic, Sebastian Cavazza and Vedran Mlikota.

You Carry Me was supported by the Croatian Audiovisual Center, the Slovenian Film Centre, FS Viba Film, the Serbian Ministry of Culture, Film Center Serbia, Eurimages, the Croatian Radio Television (HRT), Travel Board of Zagreb and the City of Split.

“In contrast to the limited distribution of Croatian films in European cinemas, which last only a month or two, mainly in art house cinemas, our film, via Netflix, will be able to be watched by a wide audience over the next five years,” producer Anita Juka said in a statement.
