Daniel Rafaelić to Head Croatian Audiovisual Centre

By

ZAGREB: Daniel Rafaelić was named director of the Croatian Audiovisual Centre for a four year term, after a unanimous vote at a meeting of the Board of Directors.

In a statement Rafaelić said, “My programme is based on the national programme signed last week by the Minister of Culture. It ensures the continuity of Croatian cinematography, production and complementary activities, as well as the promotion of Croatian film both within the country and abroad. Emphasis is on the fight against content piracy, film education and raising awareness of the importance of Croatian film. It is vital to continue with international coproductions and incentive measures in regards to audiovisual production.”

He succeeds Hrvoje Hribar, who resigned in February following a controversial report by the State Audit Office. His departure elicited an international letter of support for Hribar. Rafaelić was appointed the acting director of HAVC in February.
