ZAGREB: Milan Trenc is in preparation with his third feature film Fishing and Fishermen's Conversations / Ribanje i ribarsko prigovaranje, starring Rade Šerbeđija. The film is based on the philosophic narrative poem and travelogue writings of Croatian Renaissance poet Petar Hektorović, which was first printed in Venice in 1568.

In the film’s narrative, Hektorović, a 67-years old nobleman poet, embarks on a three-day boat trip with three local fishermen. As they pass by the bucolic islands, the aging poet recalls his youthful tragic love, comes to terms with his artistic (im)potence, while the uneasy relationship between him and the commoners escalates.

The film will be an intricate patchwork of reality, memories, dreams and visions telling the story of a tragic love in the hindsight of an aging poet.

Trenc is producing through Studio Devet in coproduction with Propeler Film and the Croatian Television (HRT). The budget is 687,979 EUR / 5.2 m HRK, with 423,371 EUR / 3.2 m HRK already in place, Trenc told FNE.

Shooting is set to take place on the Island of Hvar, in the Adriatic, in the natural environment and using natural light. Shooting will take place in April - September 2018 and the premiere is set for 2019.

No sales agent is attached to the project.
