Croatian Filmmakers Criticise Public Television Policy

By

ZAGREB: Croatian Film Directors' Guild / Društvo hrvatskih filmskih redatelja has launched the campaign “I'd like to see that, HRT says nyet!”, calling for the Croatian Television (HRT) to broadcast 34 Croatian films.

These 34 films were screened in 352 national and international festivals, winning 86 awards, but they are not being broadcast on the public television.

“Croatian film directors have warned the public for many years that HRT ignores its legal obligations without any sanctions, does not respect the quota of broadcasting European and Croatian audiovisual works, does not respect the copyright of film authors and generally continues with a destructive attitude towards Croatian cinema”, says a press release issued by the Croatian Audiovisual Centre.

HRT considers the director's announcement and the campaign itself to be incorrect, according to the same source.
