NICOSIA: Cypriot director Tonia Mishiali is currently in postproduction with her debut feature Pause aka Menopause. This Cypriot/Greek coproduction is expected to be completed by early 2018.

Pause deals with the theme of decadent relations in marriage, viewed through the prism of the complex and fascinating female nature against the obstacles of life and its unquenchable desires. Stela Fyrogeni, Andreas Vasiliou and Popi Avraam play the main characters.

The Cypriot company A.B. Seahorse Film Productions is producing in coproduction with Soul Productions from Greece. Producers are Andros Achilleos, Stelana Kliris and Tonia Mishiali. Polyvios Symeonides is associate producer and Ioanna Soultani coproducer.

The Ministry of Education and Culture of Cyprus, the Greek Film Centre and SEE Cinema Network are supporting. The project participated in the coproduction workshops Mannheim Meeting Place within Mannheim-Heidelberg International Film Festival and Connecting-Cottbus within the Cottbus International Film Festival in 2015.

The film was shot entirely on the island of Cyprus from 14 February to 13 March 2017.

Tonia Mishiali is a Berlinale Talents alumna, who directed several awarded short films including Dead End (2013) and Lullaby of the Butterfly (2014).
