Dvorak is the former head of commercial broadcaster TV Nova, the original anchor station for the Central European Media Enterprises (CME, www.cetv-net.com) group of stations and Czech TV's biggest competitor.
Dvorak was selected over four other finalists, only one of which came from within the Czech TV management. He replaces , who resigned from the position for health reasons.
Dvorak is expected to bring changes to the news department, as well as push for increased educational programmes for children and additional support for documentary films.
