IDF Announces New Documentary Platform

By FNE Staff

PRAGUE: The Institute of Documentary Film (www.dokweb.net) will launch a new industry event, East Doc Platform, 5-11 March 2012 at the One World Human Rights Documentary Film Festival (www.oneworld.cz) in Prague. The new platform replaces IDF's programme that traditionally took place during the Jihlava International Documentary Film Festival (www.dokument-festival.cz).

The platform, which will cover films in all stages of production, includes the East European Forum, Doc Launch, and East Silver Project Market. Jihlava IDFF will continue to host Ex Oriente and the East Silver Market.

"We believe that the original issue of too many international industry events taking place in October and November, which is resolved by our move to Prague in March dates, will after all lead to more stable and broader support for documentary professionals, and to a more intense cooperation between the Institute of Documentary Film and both festivals," Viera Hladišová, director of the Institute of Documentary Film, said in a statement.

"We'll use the new space to develop the Inspiration Forum and other traditional festival projects, and to build new ones that will stimulate documentary film on the local and international levels," Marek Hovorka, director of the Jihlava International Documentary Film Festival, added.
